Our Youth in Government recently attended their conference in Columbia.
The Easley delegation was by far the most outstanding delegation represented. Our students were elected to three out of the six positions in the state, including Secretary of state (Lucia Ramos-Calleros), Speaker of the House (Blake Hydrick), and Superintendent of Education (Ava Westhart). Two students earned the "Outstanding Delegate Award" Logan Hunter and Carter Hawkins for passion and richness of debate. Mary Gray Cox was awarded the "Media Specialist Award" for the outstanding quality of work on the media team. Mia Yousey, Abby Dill, Braylee Dunn, Lydia Jones, and Olivia Dillard all earned the "Outstanding Bill Award" for well-researched and written legislation. Kylee Liddle, Sydney Foster, and Taylor Dickson DJ'd the dance for the entire conference.
The final award was a Delegation wide award. The "Premier Delegation" award is given to delegations that exemplify the YMCA's core ethics. Helen Vrouvakis led this delegation to be the most decorated in the history of Easley High School.
