“During my time at Easley High School, the Youth in Government program helped me develop a genuine passion for government—it became much more than just a hobby. I learned how important it is to understand all the moving parts of government in order to create real change. Mr. Serina, representing Easley High, opened doors for our Youth in Government students at both the state and national levels. Without his support, I would have never had the opportunity to travel to Washington, D.C., or to learn as much as I have. My time in SDPC encouraged me to step outside my comfort zone and strive for bigger goals. As a first-generation American student, I’ve worked to help build a more positive school culture and inspire others to get involved in their community.” -Lucia Ramos Calleros, Easley High School, Class of 2025

As the School District of Pickens County celebrates 75 years of learning, growth, and community, it’s the people who have made the journey meaningful. From classrooms and concerts to bus routes and boardrooms, every chapter of SDPC’s story has been shaped by those who gave their time, their talent, and their heart. These short reflections - captured over the year and shared by the voices of SDPC - capture the spirit, pride, and personal moments that define who we are. Together, they form a living tribute to the legacy we share and the bright future still ahead.

Stories like this reflect SDPC’s commitment to fostering Partnerships for Student Success—creating opportunities for students to explore leadership, engage with their communities, and develop the skills they need to make a difference both locally and beyond.

If you walk the hallways of EHS, you will find that we extend learning outside the classroom -- literally! Our teachers love to proudly display student work. You can easily learn about the water cycle, cooking methods, genealogy, and endless other topics. This image is just a small sampling of what our students have been discovering and learning lately.

“Every child walks into the building safely. That’s goal #1… They need to know I’m here for them… It’s the eye contact, the waves… I just want them to know I’ve got you, your child is going to go to school safely, and I want to be able to give you a little bit of joy in the morning.” - Sean Ferguson, Math Teacher at Easley High School
